Techniques in Staying Centred Amidst Chaos

When things are going wrong around you, it’s easy to get swept up in the chaos. As a result, you might feel like you’ve lost control over everything in your life. It’s true that it can be difficult to sort out the frenzy, but it’s also true that you can recover and find your centre again.

Here are a few tips and techniques to help you stay grounded even during the most tumultuous of times:

Keep Your Usual Routine

Don’t let panic and disorganisation be your first response when things go wrong. Instead, take a deep breath and stick to your routine. This will help prevent the chaos from getting worse. Find some time to think about solutions to your problems, but don’t alter your usual activities too much. By having something constant in the middle of confusing, troubling events, you can feel more stable.

Creating a list and prioritising issues will go a long way in preventing chaos from taking over your life. In addition, it makes you feel in control of everything that’s going on.

Think Before You Act

Not only does impulsiveness make problems worse, but it’s also sometimes the cause of problems in the first place. Therefore, you need to think and think hard before you act. Take a pause and have a calm discussion instead of rushing into action. This way, you can organise everything. You may even end up realising that there was no need to panic at all.

Taking a breath or two before making a decision can also help you reorient yourself. It gives you time to sort out the many details and make some sense of what’s happening around you. Moreover, it can also make others around you feel calmer about the situation.

Focus On What You Can Control

When confronted with chaos, our first thought is to set things right. However, while working towards restoring order, keep in mind that you can’t control everything. Trying to do so will only result in exhaustion and frustration.

Don’t feel angry if you feel like there are some things that you can’t change. Instead, accept that there are things that will happen whether or not you do something about them. If you’re finding it hard to understand your inner self, consider working with a career coach. They may be able to teach you some techniques to help you get back on track. A holistic career coach can also help you realise your strengths and align your goals so that they are more rewarding and achievable.

See the Silver Lining

No matter how bad things get, there’s always a silver lining. Learn how to find these positives and suddenly, things won’t seem as bad. Changing your perspective about the situation may even lead you to a solution you haven’t thought of before.

Remember that seeing the good in every situation isn’t the same as ignoring the problem. Rather, it helps you change your mindset and thus keep you in better control. Besides, focusing on negative thoughts can only make things worse. Free your mind from the burden of unnecessary worries and you’ll be able to fix the problems sooner.

Smile

As mentioned previously, there’s something positive amidst all the chaos. Once you realise and accept it, you’ll find that you can smile even through the worst of times. With a more positive attitude, you’ll experience less stress and put everyone around you at ease.

Trust That Things Will Be Okay

Everything happens for a reason, even if you don’t understand or see that reason at the moment. Moreover, one way or another, things will happen and then end. You may not know when everything will settle, but you have to trust that everything will be alright.

Have faith. Even if you can’t see how things will sort themselves out, trust the process. More importantly, trust in yourself and the people around you that you have the skills and attitude to make things happen. Finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Things will get better much sooner if you work together with people who share the same goals as you.

Another thing that you should keep in mind when you’re caught in the middle of chaos is to never lose sight of the original goal. You might be dealing with a lot of problems at the moment, but there’s also something beyond them: something bigger and greater. Focus on this and you will come through it all.

Remember the famous quote: Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end. If things are going wrong, it simply means that you have more room to improve and think of solutions to reach your goal. Don’t lose hope. With a little faith, you can overcome any challenge that comes your way.
