Build your self-worth this Supermoon

November 13, 2016

For those of you who have missed all the discussion about tonight’s supermoon, here’s a quick run down on what it is.

Simplistically speaking, a “Supermoon” occurs when the Moon is extra close to earth.  Astronomically, the moon follows an elliptical path around the earth.  At its closest point, the moon comes within 363,400 km of earth.  At it’s most distant the Moon is 405,500km from earth.  The phrase "Supermoon" describes when the moon is both at the closest point to earth and it’s full.

Due to the influence of Jupiter and some other planets, there is some variance in this month’s orbit and the moon will come within 356,509km.  That's the closest it’s been to earth since 1948, 68 years!

Apart from rising with such grandeur above the horizon and captivating onlookers, the energy of her fullness is sure to be felt more prominently by all.

From an Astrological perspective, when the Moon is officially full in tonight’s sky (Nov 15, 2016 -12.52am AEST) she will be in the sign of Taurus.

Taurus is symbolic of our personal value, self worth, sense of security, resources we hold dear and relationship to money.  Taurus is sensual and loves to touch, feel and experience its way through life.  An earth sign it is grounded - fertile, steadfast and creative.  When our self-worth is strong, we create a strong sense of security and more readily attract money and build our resources.

In Astrology, The Moon represents our deepest personal needs, our basic habits and reactions, and our unconscious.

When the Moon is full, the energy is about letting go and releasing what no longer serves us.

When you combine the energies of the releasing full Moon and the sign of Taurus, it creates an opportunity to consider what we value in ourselves.  What do we need emotionally to be the best version of ourselves?  What patterns of behaviour are holding us back?   Which relationships are no longer aligned to what we value?

Without question, this moon is particularly fertile and nurturing.  It is a great time to consider who you are, what matters to you and how you’d like to be as a person moving forward.  Think of your answers as seeds you’ll plant to grow a version of yourself that is more aligned to your authentic self.

Here’s a list of questions to contemplate around the way you’d like to live your life.  You may like to journal them to see what comes through.

* What does the best version of me look like?

* What limiting self beliefs are no longer serving me?

* Is the version of me I’m putting out into the world in alignment with what matters to me?

* Am I honouring my needs ahead of others

* Am I valuing my beliefs or putting more value on others.

However you decide to spend your evening, make sure you choose to do something that you love and makes your heart sing!!  Have fun!!
